Yesterday, Eli and Mommy had a rough ride home! Houston and surrounding areas received tons of rain and roads were flooded everywhere. I had Math TAKS testing yesterday so our computers were off all day and I am not one to check the weather/news anyway. I picked up Eli from daycare at 5:40-ish and headed down 1488 to I-45. We were at I-45 and north of 242 around 5:50pm. Next thing I knew, we were stuck in some major traffic!
My drive from work to home is about 23 miles and takes about 30 minutes. Yesterday was different. It took us 4 hours!! yes-- 4 hours to get home. Water crept up onto I-45 yesterday at Spring Stuebner and some cars were flooded or flipped in the roadside. No one could use the feeder roads in that area-- and 3 of the 4 lanes were underwater. Eli and I sat in traffic waiting to get home and by 9:35pm last night we made it thru the half of a lane that the cops had everyone trailing thru. Imagine a major interstate full cars, trucks, and 18 wheelers.... there we were! Eli slept most of the time.. but woke up ticked off, HUNGRY, and screaming to get out of the car seat for about an hour and 10 minutes. It felt like the Hurricane Traffic from a couple years ago all over again!
I don't have any pics... Chelette asked me about it. But it would have made for one great blog post pic! In the daylight you would see cars for miles behind and in front of you...in the dark, it was red tail lights and white headlights. In the long hours of waiting, I spent some time catching up with some pals via the phone and texting. Chelette and her mom sent me some funny jokes via texts (thank you!) to kill time.
I wanted to take Eli out of the car seat but we would inch up every so often... if you didn't, people cut you off and took your spot... man was my temper roaring at that! I missed my "inch moment" once because I was talking to the trucker who was behind me... he came to my car to talk about blocking the service lane where people were flying up to cut ahead of everyone... so in the 1 minute, I missed my one car length inch up and 3 (YES 3) cars cut me off! Oh was I ticked! So for safety reasons, I kept him in the car seat strapped in... plus knowing my luck, I'd get a ticket! (even though we were not really moving!) I sat in front of the woodlands mall on 45 for at least 2 hours.... ugh!!
Well we are safe! We were home at 9:40-- our exit was one up from the water... Eli and I were tired and hungry. Daddy made me a special dinner (yummy to my tummy) and had Eli's waiting on the table as well. Eli barely ate and went to bed-- too adventure much for him! I followed soon after.
On my way to school this morning I heard about the man who was missing (but found this morning at 9am). His SUV was swept away in a drainage tunnel at the Beltway and I-10. A bystander tried holding onto the back of his bumper to hold his car back but it was swept away. The news said they saw skid marks on the roof of the culvert... I believe someone said the drainage pipe was 300ft long... I am thankful it wasn't us..... sitting on the road in one piece wasn't so bad after all. I sure feel sorry for the man and I can only imagine his last moments in the car being swept away in a big tunnel.
What a day... what an adventure for Eli! Thank you to those who kept me busy and chatted with me on the phone or were texting. We are safe and sound.

Table Fun
We have been working with Eli and the sippy cup for a couple weeks now. He seems to know what to do, it just doesnt always happen. He grabs with both hands....brings it to his face....
and sometimes misses his mouth and gets his nose!
and sometimes misses his mouth and gets his nose!
He loves to drink from my cup, from a water bottle, and sometimes the sippy cup. He is giving us a hard time with the bottle lately.
He doesnt like to hold it on his own... I guess he figures its my job!
Watch out ladies!
After the CrawFest, we went to Old Navy to get some new "duds" for Eli. Watch out ladies! Here comes Mr. GQ!
Eli's 1st swim trunks and top....
he is thinking' "you know I look good, don't you!"
Crawfish Festival
Eli went to his first Crawfish Fest in Old Town Spring today. We met up with Chelette and Jaden and checked out Mommy and Chelette's old stompin grounds. Last time Chelette and Mommy were here we were single and on the prowl! Man, how time flies and things change! We laughed and pointed out the stage we spent many hours hanging out at enjoying the music. Eli and Jaden enjoyed the scenery....really, Eli napped in the stroller a lot and Jaden was the "nosey" one as we called him. He was such a people watcher!
This little crawfish lost his way.... someone grab a pot quick! The stage area that Chelette and I used to hang out at.....
There was a really cool toy store in Old Town Spring.
He is not asleep here... he was kicked back and relaxing in Wunche Bros restaurant. Jaden was checking out Eli's pacifier
Sunday Stroll
The bad thing about having 2 cameras is that you have to check both cameras when uploading to the computer. I found these pics from Easter weekend. Sunday evening, we went for a walk along the waterway again and ended up at a lake by Entergy. It was a nice evening for a stroll. When Eli smiled for the camera, the slobber that was stowed away in his cheek pockets escaped! It was the perfect kodak moment! click on the pic and it will zoom in and you will see!

Momma Got a New "Do"
I did it! I cut off the locks! I had a bad haircut in December and have had to wear my hair in a ponytail since then. I also dyed it dark to cover the bad layers I had... so today I went to a new salon (my neighbor Raveena uses) and got a new "do". I now have the same color hair like when Jer and I married... copper red and blonde. Eli knew who I was when I walked in the house.... he knows his momma!

My Project
This is my "scrapbook room/office" wall. I plan to fill the wall with black and white Eli pics of him growing up. The four on the wall are his one month photos. I still have the family photo shoot when he was one month to print and hang as well. However, my plan is to use all different sizes of pics like a collage. Some of you have heard me talk about this wall and my plan. I haven't hung up his 6 month photos either. Here is a pic of the wall as it is now and a couple that I have from his 6 month photo shoot at Sears.
Name that tune!

Happy Easter!
Happy Easter! The Moffitt Trio went to Magnolia on Saturday to KittyCat MawMaw's house (Eli's great grandmother's) to attend the Easter Egg Dying Contest.
Easter Sunday (today) we went to Northside Christian Church to try it out. We really loved it. Eli was so great during church. He enjoyed the music and took a little nap in my arms. By the end of church, he was refreshed and ready to meet the many people who greeted him. A few church members grabbed him from my arms for some baby lovin' time. Eli was very generous with his smiles and smooches. He even spit up on a sweet lady (how embarrassing, but she took it quite well) We plan to continue going to Northside. It's very laid back and welcoming. Brookstone built the church and Jer was the estimator on the project. Great job, Brookstone! What a beautiful church! http://www.northsidechristian.com/
This is a pic of Eli and the Easter Bunny at daycare. I know it's a crummy pic... but I took a pic of a pic so you could see this...
